since even risible toss like Tony Christie's Amarillo* can get to number one 324 year after its initial release and stay there for decades, it demonstrates once and for all that anyone can have a number one these days.
Which is why i'm urging you to go out on June 6th and buy a copy of the reissue of Dinosaur Jr's Freak Scene. Never the hit it deserved to be, but an absolute turning point for me and a lot of my friends and surely a lot of you as well, I reckon some delayed recognition is the least we can do.
If you were there, glued to Snub TV watching the video they shot on the hoof in John Robb's back garden. Or if you've only recently realised that this record is money, baby**. And even if you already have a copy, do this for Mascis and for me and for right-thinking slack motherfuckers everywhere.
* Everybody knows 'Avenues & Alleyways' is FAR better
** I've been watching Swingers again
